Restoring default menus and tool bars

All,

I made a boo boo trying to figure out how to remove the Save As icon
(not the most intuitive process). Now things are messed up. I read
that if I delete the profile, that the defaults would be restored.
Tried, didn't happen. Guess the menus and tool bar options are stored
somewhere else. So my questions are:

1. How do I restore the defaults?

2. How do I get rid of the Save As icon as it is not needed, and
confusing (steps 1, 2, 3, ...)?

OS: Ubuntu Mate 15.04
LO: ver 5.0

Thanks,

If this is not stored in the user profile then it would have to be saved per installation, which surprises me. Are you sure you closed LibreOffice and the Quickstarter before deleting the profile?

How do I get rid of the Save As icon as it is not needed, and confusing (steps 1, 2, 3, ...)?

1. Click the down-arrow at the right end of the Standard toolbar and choose Visible Buttons >.
2. Click Save As... to toggle the button on or off.
3. Er, twiddle your thumbs?

I trust this helps.

Hi Dave,

I'm on Windows, not Ubuntu, but if you right-click the menu toolbar (or select View > Toolbars > Customize from the menu) it will open a window where you can check and uncheck the icons you want in each toolbar. There is also a "Reset" button there that will put all the default icons back in your toolbar. Hope that helps!

Best,
Josh

Yes Brian. I even checked the system monitor to insure anything LO or
Quick... was not running. Went back and deleted the profile. Reopened
LO Calc, and the menus/tool bars are still messed up.

Hi
On Ubuntu 12.04 and LO 3.5.4 i followed the advice for Windows but instead
of having a tick-box or such-like i had to use the "Modify" button and then
"Delete" was about the bottom choice.

So Josh's advice worked well enough for me.

Only thing was that after getting rid of the "Save" and "Save As" buttons
they were still there, even after closing and reopening LO. Also my LO
doesn't show the "Save As" button, just the "Save" one.

Errr, it is usually better to rename the User Profile than delete it. That
way you can copy chunks of it (or even the whole of it) back to restore
almost anything you might have set-up such as templates, art in the LO
gallery etc

Josh,

This is a new install, so there was nothing in the profile that really
mattered.  Otherwise, I completely agree with your comments.

Mystery solved! After Googling a little more, I found this nugget:
http://ccm.net/faq/24703-libreoffice-calc-reset-settings-to-default

I did fail to mention that I was working with Calc at the time -
sorry!!!!

So, when I'm done, I'll follow the advice given to rid the tool bar of
the Save As icon.

Thanks all!
