Setup Pootle for LibreOffice 3.4

Hi Rimas,

LibreOffice 3.4 is approaching, we need to deal with localization. The
big merges from Oracle's source were done a few days ago, so I don't
expect big changes in translatable strings. We should update the files
in Pootle.

I created LibreOffice 3.4 modules in Pootle but it is extremely slow to
work with the web interface. Maybe it is quicker from shell. Can you
help me?

For the time being we should keep LibreOffice 3.3 modules in Pootle,
because it is possible that LibreOffice 3.3.3 will be released later, so
we can update the translations there.

Files from "LibreOffice 3.3.x – Merged Help" and from "LibreOffice 3.3.x
– Merged UI" should be copied to "LibreOffice 3.4.x – Help" and
"LibreOffice 3.4.x – UI" respectively, then all languages should be
updated from templates.

For the rest of the languages what would be the best workflow? I
extracted the po files from LibreOffice 3.3.2 source, I can send you
those files.

Thanks,
Andras

Hi Andras,

I'm not sure if you were informed, but Pootle will be moved to another server soon. Should we perhaps wait for that move to happen before introducing new modules?

I was not informed. OK, let's wait then.
For Hungarian:
LibreOffice 3.4.x – Help 11456 words need attention
LibreOffice 3.4.x – UI 2248 words need attention

You can expect similar word counts for those languages that were fully
translated for LibreOffice 3.3.

Best regards,
Andras

Can we try to coordinate this so that Pootle developers are available to help if needed. There where a number of server optimisations that we applied to OpenOffice.org that LibreOffice could benefit from.

that would be awesome. Our current plan is:
* Florian installs the base system and Apache. I just talked to him, and he says he'll probably have time for that on Monday.
* I proceed from then on (install and configure Pootle and dependencies).

Is it OK, can the optimisations be applied in the second phase? If yes, then I can ping you (or Friedel or Alaa) when I'll start working on this.

Rimas

Pinging Alaa or Friedel after those steps should be the best time to look at optimisation. We probably don't need to be involved in the initial Apache and Pootle setups.

Hi Andras et al,

Would you copy "LibreOffice 3.4.x – Help" and "LibreOffice 3.4.x – UI"
to 'lo' for Lao directory. I will then try to merge with the old po
files for Lao. If that can't be done, please do provide me guidance.
Thanks.

Hi,

VM is now up and running

I would appreciate if changes could be documented, so we can merge them into our central documentation. Thanks!
