Slow Insert Row

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

When I insert a row in small sheet it takes about 7 seconds before the
row is inserted.

This isn't typical for my machine. On another much older machine of
mine the Insert Row process is instant.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04

Any ideas?

(No, I don't have a huge pile of programs that're open)

Verify the settings in:
Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Memory.

Hi
Could you try temporarily re-naming your user profile?
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/UserProfile

If it doesn't work then just delete the new profile and rename the old one so that you get all your templates, galleries, extensions, settings and everything all back the way it was.

Hi
Hmm, ok rename your old profile back to replace the new one to at least get your other settings back the way they were before.

Sorry i couldn't help there!

It seems the problem is related to Ubuntu 11.04 only. LO opens
perfectly quick. But, the Insert Row operation is too slow for
practical use.

My other machine is Ubuntu 10.04 running Lo 3.3.??? and works very
well. 11.04 with Lo doesn't.

Hi
Just out of curiosity can you check which version of java is being used?

Tools - Options - Java

It shouldn't make a difference imo and you should even be able to turn off java without it affecting the "insert row" function

Can't say for sure...I'm at the other computer right now. But, if I
remember correctly it was 1.6.0.22. I unchecked the "....Java runtime
environment" per instructions found at another website.

I did not notice any slowness when inserting rows in Ubuntu 11.04 or 11.10 with small spreadsheets. I am using default settings from the repository.

Hi
Glad to hear you fixed it :)  Congrats!  The 3.3.x is the main one i still use on Gnu&Linux machines but i have been happy with 3.4.x on Windows too and they seem to work well together.  I still haven't dared try the 3.5.x branch and probably wont for quite a long time unless i magically find a lot of free time which seems unlikely.

Can you reformat your post so that folks can understand your msg? Thanks.

It seems that my posts are being sent with a messed up appearance.

Do the posts I've sent about the subject above appear messed up and hard
to read?

Sorry about the mess up folks- it wasn't on my side of things.

Here's my post.....

The problem of slow Row Insert has been solved.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 and the above mentioned problem seems typical
to 11.04

I deleted 3.4.3 which had been installed via Synaptic and the PPA stuff
that had to be added. Also deleted was the ./LibreOffice folder and an
old ./OpenOffice folder that contained who-knows-what but I read
somewhere to delete it...so...I did.

Then, I installed the following version;

LibreOffice 3.3.4
OOO330m19 (Build:401)
tag libreoffice-3.3.4.1

This version was found at- http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
The file was- LibO_3.3.4_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz
<http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.4/deb/x86/LibO_3.3.4_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz>

Once the file is downloaded and extracted you MUST read the README file
found in the main folder. It describes how to install LibreOffice. If
I can do it....so can you. It's very easy and doesn't require all of
that esoteric ./configure, make, make install stuff that works for me
about 1% of the time.

Hi
Nicely done! you seem to have sorted out your formatting too. One way
around would be to post using Nabble. However whatever you did to fix it
works well.
Congrats and regards from
