The "Source change" field

Hi,

I've noticed a new field in Weblate, "Source change".

It looks more like a bug than a feature.

Example:

According to the Source field the string #199 of the file
loleaflet/po/help-sk.po
(https://weblate.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_online/loleaflet-help/sk/?checksum=2f877fa93036e8bd)
has been changed from "Cell formatting" to "Collaborative editing"

This does not make sense to me. Is it OK?

I agree with you, each time I've seen a modified source string, it has
nothing to do with the original, my guess is that's a copy and paste of
a source string structure to adapt it.

Cheers

Hi Sophi,
are we sure that this is not a symptom of some serious problem?
Rewriting os strings does not make sense to  me. I could imagine a typo
correction, but rewriting "Cell formatting" to "Collaborative editing"?

Hi Milos, *,

are we sure that this is not a symptom of some serious problem?

Symptom of a different problem: yes. Serious: not really (from my POV).

The problem is that there is not much context in terms of
sourcelocation in those strings. The only info is
"filename.htmltag-hierarchy.linenumber" but no other context. So there
is some guessing involved in what did change, and with little
information to work with there will be misses.
Even more so since multiple locations with same string are condensed
into a single string to translate.

So to improve this the pot file would need to have more info in it -
and for that the html file would have more info to extract/make use
of.

If this is regarded as too annoying, I can disable keeping of old
source strings when updating with new pots from the repository for the
liboonline-help project.

ciao
