Thunderbird - too many Address Books

What I've done - in order to avoid allowing these roving-robots
access to my e-address list -
is to keep them in a notepad document ... separating by
categories
then when I wish to send an e-mail pertinent to some group, I
merely select that section, copy, then paste into the e-mail

I realize this does not answer your specific question,
but thought some might be interested in a fairly simple method
to use them yet keep them hidden from the dangers lurking 'round 'bout

I've always used as my first entry in each address book @@@. That seems to still work as far as I can tell. My understanding is that the bots can't seem to deal with that entry or it'll ignore the rest once it encounters it.

Where are those "bots" running? Is this a Windows thing? I run Linux
on my computers.
