Tip-of-the-day string is not consistent with LO 6.4.0.1 GUI

Hi,

among the new tip-of-the-day strings is this one:

"Right-click in the status bar in %PRODUCTNAME Calc and select “Selection count” to display the number of selected cells."

See:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/plugins/gitiles/core/+/master/cui/inc/tipoftheday.hrc#122

Testing this string in LO 6.4.0.1 Calc it does not work. The status bar is not clickable so the alleged context menu item "Selection count" does not appear. In fact you have to select the cells and the number of selected rows and columns is shown. I think this string should be changed or removed.

It appears to be meant so that you have to right-click specifically on the
*right-hand side* of the status bar, where it by default shows Average &
Sum - among the listed functions there is also "Selection count".
I amended that "right-hand side" bit in my translation, but the original
should be fixed, of course.

This has been reported in the design group and IIRC it was a question of macOS. Don't remember if the ticket was done on bugzilla to fix the issue. But basically it should work like this.

Hi Heiko,

thanks. Do you mean this bug report?

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107366

It's more than 2 years old. BTW, I use Win 10, 64 bit.

Hi Mihkel,

thank you for your reply.

Yes, you are right. I looked for this feature to the left of the status bar, there where the number of rows and columns are displayed. So this tip-of-the-day string isn't really wrong but it is imprecise only. I often check these strings and translate them more precisely. Target audience for these strings is LO beginners who are not familiar with the LO GUI yet.

MIchael

Not specifically, I've just seen it being discussed on Telegram. Haven't looked into the details yet. What I wanted to say is that the issue is not present on all systems.
