Too little space for meaningful non English strings.

Translating to languages like Norwegian can be challenging when the user
interface have restrictions …
As you can see, there's really not space enough to give a meaningful
translation here due the static nature of the dialog.

I would appreciate if someone told me where to locate this string:

or at least tell me what it is for.

I fixed this one today (in master, waiting for review for
libreoffice-4-0). The real solution will be the conversion of all
dialogs to the new layout managed widgets, see:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/WidgetLayout. This
work is in progress, hopefully it will be done for 4.1.

It looks unused to me.

Ah! Great, tell me when there's something to test.

Ok, I'll just leave it for now then.

Thans for the help.

It's not unused: in Calc, choose Format - Conditional Formatting - Data
Bar... - More options... and if your locale is set to English, you'll see
it as the topmost header. Actually, on the very picture you posted (
http://login.kristshell.net/~olorin/databar%20dialog.png), that string
should be shown instead of the upper "Linjefarger". I don't know how it got
there, but also in my locale the two first headers in thet dialog are the
same, even though they shouldn't be -- we'll see if it's fixed in RC2.

A few more strings that have too little space:

1) "ODF Spreadsheet (not saved by LibreOffice)" -- cuts off anything that
is even a few characters longer than the English string, which means that
Germans only see about 2/3 of their translation. This one should really be
fixed as soon as possible, IMO.

2) "Restart every new page" -- cuts off the end of e.g. French and Finnish
translations, as they are a bit longer than in English.

I'm quite sure there are more, these just caught my eye at a quick glance.

Regards,
Mihkel

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll try to translate it then.

Hi Andras,

I have to warn you that, in KDE environment, I also noticed visual rendering,
such as cuts on top or bottom of spaces in writings, in some dialogs.

You can notice them especially in the "options" dialogs, where the main dialog
seems to be not resizable. I speak for the Italian interface, but I think
there's the same problem also in other languages.

Is it possible to check and fix it?

TIA,

Ciao
