top- or bottom- quoting

With my fairly standard web-based email-client it would be a nightmare.

In what way? I just checked YahooMailWebService and it is simple to intersperse comments and to have proper quote attributes.

If the list allowed html posts then i could do inline, interspersed comments but then that
would open up huge other problems so it is not really feasible.

You can do inline, interspersed comments in plain text using YahooMailWebService very easily. I just checked it out.

Sorry, Yahoo's webmail client is anything but standards based.

it would be a nightmare.

Tom, this is simply not true... re: my last email for how easy it is
even using Yahoos webmailer...

I just experimented, and it took me an extra 4 seconds...

I'm sure Tom would welcome details, as I wasn't able to find a way to
enable standard quote attributions or the use of the standard '>' quote
character... so, 'simple'...? Not quite...

If that is the case, it is not obvious how to do so... so again, please
provide details for Tom (and anyone else using yahoo)...

Hasn't this issue been beaten to death ... and then some?

I was about to agree, but I just saw a little twitch in one of the hind
legs... hopefully my last whack will take care of it...

Not quite as simple as I originally thought. I already had it set to reply in plain text.

Click on 'Reply'
Click on 'Plain Text'
Click on 'OK'
Cancel sending message
Click on 'Reply" - This time it will open in Plain text mode with proper attributions for quoted text.

Larry

Ok, just figured it out...

Proper quote attribution only happens when you are using the 'Classic'
version. The 'All-new' version doesn't work that way...

But, as someone else pointed out, the thing is dead...

OK, i'm no longer responding in this thread.....
(too many people talking about too many other things than top- or bottom-
quooting )
(( including meself.... ))

I didn't try the 'All-new' version. I do not normally use the web interface for Yahoo Mail or Gmail. I download everything to a proper email client. Actually, I don't use Yahoo Mail at all anymore even though I still have an account.

In my experience, anytime Yahoo say it has an 'All-new' version it is usually worse than the older version.

But, as someone else pointed out, the thing is dead...

Definitely.

Well... I'm trying to learn big words.

I suppose that we could add interleave as well:

[Interleaved style]

I'd rather see the 'educate Tom' posts in this thread instead of the
thread drifts/hijacks in other valid threads. At least keeping such to
here makes it considerably easer to just kill/ignore the entire thread
in one wack.
