Translation vanished

Hi everybody,

I am new on this list and I want to introduce myself first: My name is
Milos Sramek and I am a member of the Slovak OOO translation team which
will take take care also of the LO localization.

Now the problem: two days ago I uploaded full translation (with some
fuzzy strings) of the lo-build-sk.po file to pootle through the upload
feature at
http://translations.documentfoundation.org/sk/libo33/edit.html. Pootle
subsequently confirmed full translation.

However, the file is today in the old half translated status.
Fortunately, I have the translated file on my computer.

So, something went wrong.

Thanks,
Milos

I confirmed. It happened to me as well.
pootle admin please take a look at this issue.

Fortunately, I got a backup so it was as simple as an upload with
merge or overwrite option.

I think it was my mistake, and it applies to all locales. While debugging another problem yesterday, I issued a command to re-import all files from disk, and forgot to tell it to keep translations that are already in the database, but not in files.

Please accept my apologies... :frowning:

Rimas

First I thought it was new translations coming from somewhere, then I
noticed I've been there before...

So, are translations gone forever, or changes can be undone? I didn't
did a backup for Asturian translations!

All in all, translations will be improved

Sadly, they are gone. :frowning: Otherwise, I think I would have restored them already...

Rimas

Same for me. Now, I've translated again all untranslated strings offline and I'm uploading it.

Rimas: I understand that this version of Pootle can "coexist" with a version control system (i.e. the files can also be accessed using a VCS tool like svn, or git). Perhaps it will be a good idea to implement this, so Pootle admins could branch before making site-wide changes, and test before integrating the changes. This also give us (language admins) better control over the translation process and history.

Best regards,

Santiago

Nah, no worries. I've learned a lesson about backups... again!

Time to improve translations in 3, 2, 1...

Best regards,
