That doesn't always work - Apparently not for me at least. My email address on this list is a redirect to my actual ISP address (which has worked fine for years everywhere else). So, when I try to unsub, it bounces every time. When I use my actual address, of course it comes back as non-subscribed. And apparently there's no web interface for managing list subscriptions so I guess I'll just have to flag the list itself as spam so I don't see it any more.

Send blank email to:

user+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org

If you have a MTA where you can modify headers try to send

    Subbject: unsubscribe
    Sender: <actual_isp_email>

which should work.

If you have a MTA where you can modify headers try to send

    From: <redirected_email>
    To: <users+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org>
    Subbject: unsubscribe
    Sender: <actual_isp_email>

which should work.

This is on Windows and I'm not running sendmail or anything like that. I'm not convinced it would work anyway. I sent an unsub message and got this:

This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server.
The reasons given by the server are included to help you determine why
  each recipient was rejected.

      Recipient: <users+unsubscribe-digest@libreoffice.org>
Reason: 5.7.1 <users+unsubscribe-digest@libreoffice.org>: Recipient address rejected: Mail appears to be spam or forged and
is rejected due to policy. Using cached results - retrying too fast. penalty: 30 seconds x 0 retries.

  Please reply to <Postmaster@xxxxxxxxx.yyy>
if you feel this message to be in error.

I then sent another one and got this:

Hi, this is the mlmmj program managing the mailinglist
  users@libreoffice.org
You are not subscribed to this list, so you cannot unsubscribe.

  ...etc.

And yet I still continue to get messages from the list. It's insane that there's no web interface to manage list subscriptions. There's apparently no way for me to unsub.

Just the normal way, nothing special (and I used the same email address to do it)...

It is like the <exim> mailinglist... where I am subscribed since more
then 8 years and I get the messages and can not post, unsubscribe or
reach the owner/postmaster.

However, I see from the server logs that <exim.org> IS ACCEPTING my
messages but they never arrive the list or someone.

To stop the list I reject on SMTP level, but exim is continously trying
to bomb me with messages... :-/

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening

this was my attempt to unsubscribe, and I have tried repeatedly.

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    user+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the
recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for
further information about the cause of this error. The error that the
other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1
<user+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org>: Recipient address rejected: User
unknown (state 14).

SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS. ( my apologiies for the caps but I ihave
tried to unsubscribe 10 x with all kinds of permutations, and I still
continue to get ridiculous amounts of listmail from LO mail lists. )

Yours Truly,

Mark Wendman

the unsubscribe address starts with "users", not "user". It wants the "s" in
userS. Here is the address:

users+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org

Hello Mark,

If you look closely at the instructions at the bottom of this email you will
notice that you have left out an "s" from the unsubscribe email address and
that is why your email is not getting through. try this address:-

Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to users+help@libreoffice.org

The correct address is users+help@ .......
not user+help@........

Hope this helps,

Bruce Carlson

Hi Brice,

thanks, I did cut and paste the address ( as found in the listserve
emails for LO I receive ), completely, but it seems to have been
incorrect.

I will try again, and thanks for your kind help.

Mark

The correct email is: users+unsubscribelibreoffice.org

Note the "s", not USER, but USERS..

Luiz

Hi Michelle!

Thank you for your e-mail.

It is like the <exim> mailinglist...  where I am subscribed  since  more
then 8 years and I get the messages and can  not  post,  unsubscribe  or
reach the owner/postmaster.

So is there any other way other than the (non-functional) email method to unsub from this list?

Thanks.

It works fine, as long as you

1. know how to read,

2. understand that you may have to check your spam folder for the
returned instructions, especially if you have a brain-dead spam
   filter, and

3. actually take the time to read *and* *follow* the instructions you
   receive

Of course, a lot of people don't possess these simple abilities, hence
all of the noise on the list about how to unsub.

I think the instructions given at the bottom of the thread should go
straight to the point: "to unsubscribe from the list send mail to
users+unsubscribe@libreoffice.org" not users+help@...

IMHO!!

Luiz Oliveira
