Using the new design for the LibreOffice Persian website

Hi,
We have completed the translation of the strings for the new design of the
website into Persian:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/website/newdesign/fa/
So I think it is great to have the new design activated for Persian.
https://fa.libreoffice.org/

There are two issues remaining:

1. TDF weblate admins should kindly add Persian as a new language in the
website extensions translation, so we can translate it:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/new-lang/website/extensions/

2. Persian/Farsi is an RTL language, so there should be some design changes
to the website template so that it supports RTL languages. Many things
should be mirrored, including the position of the logo on the top left; It
should be moved to the right of the page. Is there a git repo for the theme?

Hossein

I asked Christian to add the project to your language.

Hi Christian,

Sorry if you get a duplicate message.

HI Hossein, *,

Note that only some of the automatically generated elements of the
site are translated in weblate, the main portion of a site would need
to be created in the CMS as free-form text content.

It's ok. I will take care of the text translation.

So if you don't already have an account on TDF SSO, please create one
and then you can use that user to login to
https://www.libreoffice.org/admin - then please poke to have your
silverstripe (user that is created automatically) granted the
permissions to edit the Farsi/Persian site. It is populated with a
skeleton of the English site, but feel free to completely cut that
down to only relevant information.

I have TDF SSO account, with this email, hossein.ir@gmail.com; When I want
to login to https://www.libreoffice.org/admin, I get this error:

  Server error

Sorry, there was a problem with handling your request.

If it's because of the lack of the needed permissions, please give me the
permission to edit the fa.libreoffice.org website.

Done. Idea was to have l10n team leaders be able to do do that
themselves for the non-LibreOffice core projects where there are
hundreds of files), but our group/role layout doesn't contain the
necessary permission for that ..

Thank you. As far as I remember, pootle permission management was great, and
easy to use.

Anyway, I have finished the translation of the extensions website for Persian.
Please employ all the translations from the new design and also extensions
website for Persian.

the templates are in
https://github.com/tdf/newdesign_wip/tree/master/themes/libreofficenew
- however we're in the process of redesigning the site completely, so
probably not worth spending too much effort into adding proper RTL
support into the existing mess....

ciao
Christian

Ok, at least I can try to find out the efforts needed to make the
templates RTL. Do you expect a github pull request?

We don't have automatic account linking in place for Silverstripe. You
already have account on Silverstripe with the right privileges assigned
to it, but didn't have one on our Single Sign-On system when we changed
the authentication method in fall 2018. Should work now, but you might
have log sign out from SSO at https://auth.documentfoundation.org/?logout=1
for the change to take effect.

Hi,

Thanks. I was able to login, but the edited pages have no relation with the
website fa.libreoffice.org. Published urls are not visible in the fa website.
I tried to publish/unpublish pages, but it had no effect.

Also, translated strings are not employed. Translation for both website and
extensions is at 100% for Persian.

fa.libreoffice.org was never ported to the new design and turned to
static pages nearly a year ago. Poke us once the new site is ready for
production and we'll make the switch atomically.

cheers

Hi Guilhem,

Thank you. I want to know if the content of the "fa" website is up to date,
or maybe I should try
translating the main website contents. One of the strings of the main page
is:
"LibreOffice 4: the free office suite the community has been dreaming of
for twelve years."

In such a case, the problem would be that some parts of the website are
dynamically generated, and website contents are not enough.

A possible solution would be copying all the main contents into the "fa"
website.

Hossein
