Web layout crashes LO

Good evening
I think I did ask a similar question maybe half a year ago, but I cannot
find my question nor the answeres to it any more.

LO 3.6, Win XP x2/ Win 7 x1 (total 3 machines, 2 desktops, 1 note PC)
I am working again on a book. The current file contains 1 picture and
has 260 kb. If I remove the picture, that shrinks to 60 kb. (When I
asked the last time, I had a file: 200 pages + 70 pictures = 50 MB, or
using grayscale pictures 15 MB. At that time I was told to change the
memory settings. Did not work.)

When I switch from View -> "Print layout" to "Web layout" and try to use
ANY key, like moving through the document (the stupid thing always jumps
to the top of the document and I HAVE to move!), it ALWAYS, as in 100%
of the cases, crashes LO. I tried this on three different computers with
all sorts of differenct settings, operations etc. The result is ALWAYS
the same.
I noticed, however, that when I save the file as a text file, no
pcitures, no formatting, no nothing ... THEN LO stays alive even after
switching to Web layout.

Now, is that "normal"??? THAT would be really stupid.
If it isn't, is there a way to fix it?
Having to forsake ALL kind of formatting in order to use "Web layout"
does not make any sense (to me) and is no fun at all.

Thank you in advance
Thomas

Hi,

You should give a try to a newer LO version (last one is 4.1.3).
Even if there's a bug in 3.6 (which one precisely), 2 possibilites:
1) perhaps it's already fixed in a newer version
2) if not, there won't be any new official TDF LO 3.6 version anyway

You must know that including a lot of images in a document give some
problems to LO. There are already some bugs about this.
However, if the problem is still there on 4.1.3, it would be interesting you
submit a bug here:
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ and attach the file so QA team can
try to reproduce the problem.

Thank you.
Well, I once tried a new version, but did not like the "improvements" and therefore deliberately went back to 3.6.

Although I did not yet have the time to "dissect" the file(s) in an attempt to locate any possible problem,
I DID find this.

Open the (any) LO Writer file in OO.
Apply any form of change, e.g., add a space then delete it again.
Save with OO in ODF format.

After that the error in LO seems to disappear.

Does THIS make any sense to anybody?
