Where is the guidelines on what to put on a CD/DVD distro of LibreOffice?

What is the link to such a guideline?

I use to make English only CDs of OOo and the recommended files needed for a proper handout for distributing it to the "masses". I would like to know what is recommended for the LibreOffice version, since I am dropping OOo in such a CD.

OOo has a ISO file to burn a CD of their package and everything "needed".

I want to make one that will work for Windows, Mac, and Linux, if possible; or just Windows for for now. I usually add some extensions and documentation files to the CD and fill it up with everything I can OOo, now LibreOffice related, as I can stuff it with. I add a lot more Open Source packages to me DVD version. When/if I sell it, it is for the cost of the CD/DVD, case, etc., with no profit. I want to get my LibreOffice disc[s] done soon.

Any help on finding the link to the things that should be on such a disk? I took my queue before from OOo's ISO downloads, but LibreOffice is not OOo and that was well before Oracle bought it.

I am not one who will be listed on the web site as an "official type" of distribution for LibreOffice, but just a local one in New York State, USA. Well maybe I could do more distribution, but I will need to be able to have a proper disc created and such for the needed system types first. I would be a mirror download site, if needed, or wanted, as well. I just need to know what is needed to be done.

The only thing you can do right now is download the different packages from the download page and build from that. This maybe something to bring up in one of the 'admin' list, though I am not sure which one as there is not 'distribution project' as of yet.

You obviously need to get official labels and stuff but there is no need to
download packages. There is already an all_platform DVD available in the
mirrors...

LibreOffice-Box has been announced in german:

It´s a product designed for the german speaking audience. It
contains LibreOffice packages for different languages, but the UI of
the DVD and the goodies on it (e.g. templates) are german.

IMO the project has the potential to become internationalized.

(I'm curious: why is the Slimcase Inlay so low res? Isn't the original an

That link shows an All platform ISO but it also shows a "de" language code in the file name. Since I am in the USA and we use English, for the most part, in my area of New York State I would prefer to have a English CD or DVD ISO file if I do no make my own.

This is the link I finally found that has a list of the files on a DVD for distribution.

This is part of what I need. Of course, most of the links for DVD labels and DVD cases are shown in German, which is where the site is originally from. I can develop my own labels, since I prefer using Light Scribe disks over the paper labels. I find that paper labels "bubble up" after a year or two. I have a number of DVDs that had to be thrown out due to this problem. With Light Scribe, I have no paper label, but it is monochrome and it takes time to burn the label onto the surface of the disk. Also Light Scribe does not have a 64-bit version for Linux. I will have to use my Vista laptop any my external DVD burner to do the job. Also the media is hard to find sometimes. Still it is better than dealing with bubbly paper labels if they sit around for awhile.

To be honest, most of my CDs and DVDs issued to friends and family, plus some old clients, have "marker labels" instead of printed ones. Saves time and money for those who do not care if it is a nice printed label. One day I hope to get an ink-jet printer to print directly onto the label area of the discs. Now that would be the best solution, but my HP PSC is still a good working all-in-one printer to offset my colored laser printer. By-the-By, do not use colored laser printers for most disc labels. The toner can "peal" off the paper too often for safe use.

I'm not sure, what you mean.

Yes, the DVD is made by a German speaking team, and templates and extra stuff are in German. But the software itself comes with more than just the German UI and help files.

There is a need or an English, and/or a multi-language ISO file that has the software in
the languages used and the add on extensions, documentation, and templates in those
different languages. I mainly deal with an all English version, but the "official" site could
have an ISO to be downloaded that has the top 5 or 10 languages and their versions of the
documents and such included. That would be a good way to market the product. You
never know who could use one. I did once for a friend that was born in a non-English
speaking country and still did a lot of non-English work in a word processor.

I think it is pretty safe to say that the marketing team would be interested in an English version. I have just downloaded the ISO and will take a look at it. I would offer to help but have extremely limited coding experience. I can offer some help wherever I am useful.

I am pretty sure that all other NL groups would be interested in their own version too.

I usually do not make my discs auto-loading. I was thinking about adding an HTML readme or index file to deal with the different versions of the package with some directions for installation and where the documentation and add ons are located on the disc.

As I said earlier in this thread, I tend to stuff a DVD full of everything you will need for an office suite, plus any other open source and free software that can be used by that person. I include anti-virus software, malware cleaners, and a number of other useful packages where there is room in my Windows Only DVD. My CDs are office suite related stuff only.

I do remember getting a multi language, multi platform disc that autoloaded to my default language and platform from some company [not OOo/LO related]. Something like the web site does when you go to the download page. This was nice of that company. Having a screen, HTML for now, telling you which version to install and "helps" you do so would be nice as well. Having a list of the "standard" extensions that are useful is nice as well. I tend to want a selection of extensions to be installed "by default" for all my install for friends and family. Gives them a more usable system with some of these options added, like language tools, pagination tool, etc.. I even give several calendar files to help them like I use on my fridge for years. Then there is every downloadable PDF documentation on using OOo/LibreOffice I can find on my CD/DVDs. I tend to do a set of disks and then update the master files/folders when I find updates for the software/documentation/extensions that are included. It is a lot of work to set up a basic folder and HTML index and keep it up-to-date, so I usually just use a "one folder per platform" disc with folders for the extension and documents separate from the platforms folders. It works for my handouts, mostly.

It seems that the German Team do a lot to keep this sort of thing updated.
Without a similar team in other countries keeping it updated might be tricky.
perhaps it might be possible to list and link to the downloads that are required
and then let users update the links if they need this dvd? Perhaps there is a
better way to minimise the work required to keep this updated unless
specifically needed? Putting in a lot of work now might not be the best use of
time right now but that is up to individuals and what interests them (as
always). It would be a great thing to have in English/American but i don't
think we have a strong enough team for it to have lasting effect.

Well, I hope with over 300 million population, that the US team will grow a bit. There are really about 15 US active members that I can see. If we could get a few more dozen helpers on hand, we could maybe get a team to keep the distro ISO up to date. Of course, you could also add to this the Canadian users to bulk up the numbers (*smile*), we number approximately 34 million population.

Let's hope our US/Can marketing campaign is an effective one.

Well I created a temporary DVD for LibreOffice.

1) With the English version for Windows, both Mac, and Linux in 32 and 64 bit for DEB and RPM
2) Documentation from LibreOffice.org and OOo for the parts that LO has not done yet - PDF format
3) a large number of add on extensions
4) large number of templates
5) all the clipart I have for it

taking about 4.0 gig on the DVD.

I did not include any auto-launcher or HTML file for giving you instructions on how
to install the various platforms. I do not know Mac and I do not install RPM either,
so I would need those instructions. I did place a PDF file stating that LibreOffice
came out of the coding for OOo and, for now, if there is no documentation for parts
of LO, you can use OOo's version to get you up to speed. I started out with LO's
PDFs [or exported the .odt files to PDF] that was available, and then added a folder
with the OOo documentation for parts like Calc, Draw, etc., that OOo had on their site.

I got most of my clip art from Openclipart [.org?], and the templates for a wide variety
of sources. One problem so far is that some of the clip are is in WMF format and my
Ubuntu does not read/view it. I will be converting those files later to GIF, PNG, or JPG.

If someone at the German site wants the ISO file of this DVD, I can finish it off in the
next few days/weeks and place it on one of my domains and give the link so it can be
downloaded at a later date. I could also add the other English language files like for
England, or New Zealand. Then it can be an "all English" ISO file that can be downloaded.
I would have to re-look into the distribution info for some of the clip art and such though.

Let me know if you want me to go ahead and finish it off with the rest of the English
language and help packs, plus the other work.
